Animal Behavior Monitoring Systems - GrowSafe "Mats"

GrowSafe's patented technology reads multiple transponders in close proximity and determines transponder orientation in a 2 D plane. The system reports the distance of the transponder relative to the back of the bunk or watering trough, as well as the lateral location of the transponder. Location information is within 6 cm. accurate.

Unobstructed monitoring - GrowSafe equipment has been designed to be placed in a typical commercial feeding environment. Monitoring equipment does not restrict animal socialization and typical pen behaviors.

Automatic Measurements

The system automatically captures and calculates:

• Frequency and duration for every individual feeding event
• Grazing activity
• Time of the event
• Intervals between events
• Number of animals feeding simultaneously
• "Who feeds where" at the bunk within 6 cm. accurate
• "Who feeds besides who"
• Feeding frequency over user selected time interval

System Capacity

The number of animals that can be monitored by a GrowSafe Mat is unlimited. The system will monitor typical commercial feeding pens 1 - 250 head plus.

How the system works:

1. The animal is equipped with an ISO compliant passive transponder. Each transponder provides a unique number which allows the animal to be individually identified. There is no battery or external power required.
2. A GrowSafe Mat is affixed directly in the feedbunk, watering trough or other feeding situation.
3. An electromagnetic field activates the transponder when the animal places its head close to the mat. The transponder emits a signal to the mat identifying the animal. When the animal withdraws his head from the bunk, the signal stops.
4. A GrowSafe Panel collects, verifies, processes and stores data for transfer to GrowSafe analysis and management software.
5. The panel transfers data 'wireless' to feedyard computers via spread spectrum technology up to 30 miles line of sight.
6. GrowSafe Software gathers, segments, compiles, and analyses the millions of data points collected by the system providing unique insight into animal health and performance.
